Already familiar in the casino equipment supply market, but with other ownership, slot machine manufacturing business Aruze Gaming Global aims to establish a presence internationally, including in Asia, in its title.
Kelsey Allison, global chief operating officer, said in an interview with GGRAsia.
U.S.-based Play Synergy recently acquired the Arouze Gaming America Inc asset, part of Empire Technological Group Ltd, and primarily has a slot business.
In February, Aruz Gaming America filed for protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Act due to legal issues related to its ruling against a gaming equipment supplier.
Play Synergy acquired "intellectual property, trademarks and hardware" in connection with Aruz Gaming America's slot machine business, Mr Allison said.
"Then we actually bought the [Aruze Gaming America] corporation in Australia and South Africa," he said. "We did not purchase the Asian corporation, because it is privately owned by Mr. Okada," Mr. Allison added. He was referring to Kazuo Okada, a Japanese game entrepreneur who founded the Aruze brand.
Mr Allison also confirmed that "Asian company" means Aruz Gaming Macau Inc.
Founded in the U.S. more than a decade ago by businessman Frank Feng, Empire Technology Group began with table game technologies such as baccarat "trend" displays, the requirements of some players who like to respond to perceived patterns in baccarat results, and analytical software related to table game operations. In 2021, Empire Technology Group acquired Synergy Blue, a developer of U.S.-based technology-based slot machine games.
After acquiring certain Aruz Gaming America properties, Empire Technology Group has a branch office in the Philippines. It is responsible for research and development of Aruz Gaming Global Products.
According to Mr. Allison, Aruz Gaming Global has a branch in Macau and deals with the sales and operations of its products in Asia. He noted that several former employees who had worked in the Philippines or Macau at Aruz Gaming America had been rehired.
